Remember the last time you spent half a day trying to match that one spot color for a rush job? What if we could show you how to match that color – or almost any color – within minutes instead of hours? This one-day workshop will show you how this process can be integrated into your color management workflow. We will address topics from the design side all the way through printing, including a hands-on project simulating a real-world environment.

Classroom (Lecture)

Basic color theory – CMYK vs. RGB

Difference between library colors (i.e. Pantone), spot colors (i.e. brand specific) and CMYK builds

– Color Management: How each is handled by the RIP

– Design side creation and settings


Color measurement instrumentation; colorimeters, spectrophotometers, collecting data

– Color verification and analysis software tools

– Rasterlink demonstration with spot colors

  • Start to finish, design side file creation

  • Managing file in the RIP
  • Managing colors in the RIP
  • Creating RIP specific CMYK recipes
  •  Understanding when a match is as good as it gets (in gamut vs. out of gamut)
