Enhanced Expressive Capabilities and Greater Print Workflow Automation
Announcing the Flatbed UV Printers “UJF200-3042/-6042”
Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd. (Head office: Tomi-shi, Nagano, President: Kazuaki Ikeda) announces the “UJF200-3042” and “UJF200-6042” (hereinafter, the “UJF200 Series”), flatbed UV inkjet printers designed for decorating promotional goods and industrial products.
The UJF200 Series supports vivid color expression with newly developed fluorescent UV inks. In addition, combining the optional camera unit and belt unit enables automation of the printing process. The machine will make its world debut at the international exhibition “PRINTING United Expo” held in Las Vegas, USA.
In 2010, Mimaki launched the world’s first desktop inkjet printer, the “UJF-3042.” By enabling direct printing on a wide variety of materials, the printer opened a new market for on-demand printing of custom goods and novelty items. Over the following 15 years, Mimaki continued to advance its technologies, improving print quality and expanding the range of compatible media. This ongoing innovation has expanded its applications of the UJF Series to the decoration of industrial products, including enclosures for home appliances and electronic devices, as well as instrument panels, helping drive the digitalization of industrial printing.
The newly announced UJF200 Series features the high-definition print heads used in Mimaki’s flagship “330 Series” graphic printers, together with Mimaki’s proprietary imaging technology. The combination precisely reproduces fine text and lines while beautifully rendering skin tones and gradations, delivering high print quality (Fig. 1).
The UJF200 Series also newly supports fluorescent pink and fluorescent yellow inks. By adding vivid colors that are difficult to reproduce with standard CMYK alone, these inks expand the range of design expression and give printed items a more striking appearance. Eye-catching accent colors further enhance the appeal of products, making them more enticing to pick up (Fig. 2).

The UJF200 Series offers optional camera and belt units designed to automate customers’ printing processes (Fig. 3). The camera unit detects the shape and position of each workpiece and automatically positions the print image accordingly, reducing the need for operators to manually position and align workpieces. The belt unit can be connected to a conveyor or other equipment on a production line to automate the transport of workpieces and their collection after printing.
By combining the two options, the entire process from workpiece transport through printing and collection can be operated with less manual intervention, enabling unattended operation overnight and on holidays. This allows customers to increase production output even with limited staffing, contributing to further productivity improvements.

The UJF200 Series is a flatbed UV printer suitable not only for customers already using UV inkjet printers, but also for printing companies and industrial product manufacturers looking to enter the digital printing market.
Compared with conventional models, the UJF200 Series significantly reduces startup time and post-print waiting time, improving production efficiency in actual production environments by up to approximately twofold*. This helps alleviate productivity concerns when adopting digital printing and supports customers in building more efficient production environments.

The UJF200 Series also significantly expands media compatibility, supporting workpieces up to 9.84 in. (250 mm) thick and weighing up to 44 lbs. (20 kg). This enables direct printing on thicker and heavier finished products that were previously difficult to print on, such as carry-on bags and desktop PC housings. Because even a single customer-supplied finished product can be printed, the series can help create new business opportunities.

In recent years, driven by the growth of e-commerce and the spread of on-demand production, global demand for digital printing on custom goods and industrial products has continued to expand. At the same time, print service providers are increasingly required to establish flexible production systems capable of accommodating a growing variety of orders.
In addition to high expressive capabilities and productivity, the UJF200 Series offers the scalability to automate printing processes. This enables customers to build an optimal production system according to changes in their business scale and production volume. Mimaki will continue to support the digitalization of industrial printing over the long term, while adapting to the growth of each customer’s business.
The “UJF200-3042” and “UJF200-6042” are scheduled to go on sale in October.
The products are scheduled to be showcased at major exhibitions around the world, starting with the Order Goods Business Show, which will be held in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from September 15.
