Press Release

March 20, 2020

To Mimaki dealers, partners and customers,

Last night, Gov. Gavin Newsom, the California State Public Health Officer, and the Director of the California Department of Public Health issued an order directing all residents of California to stay at home or their place of residence effective immediately and until further notice.

According to the order, essential services (gas, grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, etc.) and state and local government functions will remain open to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors. One of these sectors, for government facilities, includes suppliers for critical services, which can include sign and/or print companies who are producing items for those suppliers or critical service providers. However, for the near term Mimaki offices in California will remain closed and our employees will adhere to the state mandates.

As we shared earlier this week, Mimaki USA Inc. will continue to provide phone support as well as shipping of parts, inks and hardware. However, until further notice our Gardenia office will not be physically accessible to dealers, partners or customers and, in order to maintain critical operations and functions, only a select group of staff, who have received direct notice from Mr. Kawagoshi or Ken VanHorn are allowed to go to the California office.

At this time, our California warehouses for ink and hardware remain operational but our parts warehouse is closed. Therefore all parts will ship from our Atlanta area warehouse. As you might anticipate, this status can change without notice given other municipalities have also signaled widescale shutdowns of non-life sustaining or critical services. Therefore we encourage all dealers to ensure they have adequate on hand supply of inks, parts and hardware as their customers or businesses require.

Mimaki USA Inc. has already enacted several proactive measures to help protect the health and well-being of our community that are consistent with the new order, including:

March 12: Mimaki USA Inc. implemented a ban on all non-essential domestic and all international travel.
March 13: Mimaki USA Inc. implemented a work from home (WFH) policy for all employees caring for children and/or at risk individuals.
March 16: Mimaki USA Inc. announced a department level and office rotation schedule to limit exposure for groups of employees that share common work spaces.
The health and well-being of our employees, customers, partners and community is our top priority and will continue to guide the steps we take to address this rapidly evolving situation. We strongly encourage everyone to adhere to federal, state, and local public health guidelines.
